의미 1

뒤의 내용이 앞의 상황과 비슷하다고 추측하거나 앞의 내용과 비슷한 정도로 어떠함을 의미한다.
이와 유사한 문법으로 '-는/(으)ㄴ 듯(이)'이 있다.
    "Used for supposing or conjecturing that the contents of the second clause(?) are similar or could be considered similar or related to the events of the contents of the first clause(?)."
    Pretty much a "like" or "as / as if".
   
    그녀는 오빠의 잔소리가 듣기 싫은 양 얼굴을 찌푸렸다.
        The girl made an annoyed face, as if she was tired of hearing her older brother's nagging.
    동생이 발을 헛디뎌 계단을 굴렀지만 아프지 않은 양 툭툭 털고 일어났다.
    그는 의사로부터 불치병 판정을 받았지만 남의 일인 양 덤덤한 표정이었다.

의미 2

어떤 모양이나 행동을 일부러 함을 의미한다. 보통 뒤 문장에는 사실은 그렇지 않음을 나타내는 내용이 자주 온다.
    "Used for saying that some action or state is done or achieved on purpose. Usually followed by a statement revealing that it is not actually so."
    ... this one can also just come out as "like" or "as" or "as if"

    그녀는 모든 것을 다 아는 양 잘난 체를 한다.
        She acts all hoity toity like she knows everything.
    그는 자상한 사람인 양 행동했지만 사실은 모두 연기에 불과했다.
    그 직원은 경쟁사의 제품에 결함이 있는 양 허위 사실을 유포하였다가 들통이 났다.   

의미 3

실제로는 앞의 내용과 다르지만 그렇게 받아들여져서 뒤의 일이나 상황이 나타남을 의미한다.
    "Used for saying that while reality is not truly as described in the first clause(?), it can be considered that the first clause(?) is the reason for the second clause(?)"
   
    어떤 이들은 일이 인생의 전부인 양 평생 일에만 매달려 살아간다.
    엄마는 영양제를 하루라도 안 먹으면 큰일나는 양 아침마다 챙겨 주신다.
    굉장한 연구인 양 언론에 떠들썩하게 보도되지만 성과 없이 흐지부지되는 경우도 적지 않다.

Final Note:

의미 ①, ②, ③, 모두 '-는/(으)ㄴ 것처럼'으로 바꿔 쓸 수 있다.
Each of these three uses can be changed to: '-는/(으)ㄴ 것처럼'.
